About Me

I am a father, a husband, an open source web developer and IT specialist, aikidoka, and literature enthusiast. I am father to a beautiful, 9-year-old daughter, Maeve, and 4-year-old son, Liam; I'm married to the most wonderful woman in the world, Jen; our little family, while still young, is the core of my life and the foundation upon which I do all other things in life.

My passion the past several years, outside my family, is open source web development -- which, for me, includes systems administration as much as actual programming. I like the freedom of open source -- I appreciate tools that adapt to my needs, and which I can mould to fit my needs. I also like the free-as-in-beer quality of many open source projects; I would never have been able to learn what I have had I been required to pay for my tools (which include editors, programming languages, server daemons, and much, much more).
